The Historical Materials Of The Northern Wei Dynasty

A classical masterpiece named Nan Bei Shi Kao Suo is written by Gao Ming. Based on Zhong Hua Book Company’s Edition and the comparison of Er Shi and Ba Shu, this author consults General Annals and the research of his seniors like Zhao Yi, Qian Daxin, Wang Mingsheng, along with his comprehensive analysis, he finally accomplished this book. I do benefit a lot after reading this masterpiece together with Bei Shi and Wei Shu. At the same time I found out some inaccuracy in collation and omission. Here I’ll try to propose some amendments in the part of the Northern Wei Dynasty of this book.Amendments in the history of the Northern Wei Dynasty are listed below: Due to the inaccurate collation of Nan Bei Shi Kao Suo, there is still some space for correction; errors caused by serious slim in Bei Shi; collation correct in Wei Shu while still wrong in Bei Shi; words missing and wrong punctuation in historical data; incorrect geographical names, personal names and national names; wrong data and time, which amount to 100 pieces.I have several learning experiences during writing Amendments in Nan Bei Shi Kao Suo.1. Collecting all materials completely, especially data generated in new research.2. Being extremely serious with epitaph for historical testimony.3. Using more than one case when tested by general cyclopedia.Documents are the basis of historical research. Writers shall be serious and respectful towards both ancient and contemporary historians, at the same time, have their own views when studying these materials.
