A Study Of Hu Zhiping 's Erhu Teaching

Since the early 1900 s, Liu Tianhua carried out the reform of national musical instruments, and introduced the folk instrument erhu into professional colleges. Erhu has a history of one hundred years since it was used for professional education. During the one hundred years, erhu teaching has been developing in the direction which is more systematic and scientific. Now the prosperity of erhu education is the result of erhu educators’ joint effort.As the erhu educator, concert performer and folk music theorist, Hu Zhiping has trained many excellent students since he taught in Wuhan Conservatory of Music in 1990. He made outstanding contribution to the art development of erhu.By interviewing with the professor Hu Zhiping and his students, watching him teach in the classroom, reading and studying his theoretical research literature, I studied his erhu teaching content, teaching methods and teaching effect to discuss the teaching characteristics of Hu Zhiping, and learn from the best so that it can provide some enlightenment and reference to young students who are engaged in erhu education.The paper was divided into three chapters. Chapter I: Hu Zhiping erhu teaching content. It was discussed on the basis of the specific content of two major aspects, namely playing teaching and theoretical teaching. Chapter II: Hu Zhiping erhu teaching methods. Three teaching methods that professor Hu Zhiping mainly used in the class were discussed respectively in the chapter. Chapter III: Hu Zhiping erhu teaching effect and its enlightenment. The erhu teaching effect and its enlightenment by professor Hu Zhiping was summarized through the discussion of content and methods in the first two chapters.
