In the process of deepening understanding of the nature of labor relations and the labor law, the academic thesis about labor ethics, which belongs to a basic research work, is becoming a theoretical forefront and a hot issue of the labor law research. Ethics is the ideal state of the relationships between people. Considering from the aspect of the nature of labor relations, not only the body of labor relations, but also concluding and renewing the labor relations have ethical character, even the interaction behavior of the body of labor relations is provided with it. Thus the connotations of labor ethics could be defined that under the specific social and historical conditions, it refers to the regulatory requirements of ideal labor relations formed by the body of labor relations which is concluded by employee and employer identity.The labor ethics is decided by social economic conditions which are formed by the economic base, policy and legal conditions, labor relations reality conditions and other factors together. The labor ethics is a unity of reality and ideality, externality and internality. The existence of labor relations is the premise of labor ethics, and it points to the ideal state. Labor ethics possesses the regulatory requirements and guides the practice of industrial relations. At the same time, labor ethics contains the ethical requirements for employees and employers. The ethical requirements in the labor contract stage, the employees should respect for the autonomy of employment which belongs to employers, negotiate or make contracts with the employers in good faith. Besides, the employers should respect the dominant position of employees in the labor market, and keep integrity in making the contracts with the employees. Then the ethical requirements in the stage of fulfilling labor, as one of the labors of their employer, the employees should work according to the labor contract or the employer operating management, and be faithful to their employing units. And for the employers, they should keep labor contract, take care of their employees as the ownership of employing unit, and preserve the order of industrial relations and construct ethical atmosphere.The labor ethics and its connotation provide a new perspective and thinking for labor law research, and it can be the ethical guidance on disposing of the labor relations. The labor ethics and its connotation provide the support of the labor ethics for labor legislation and promote the perfection of rule of labor law. In brief, the labor ethics and its connotation have an important significance in the in-depth study on industrial relations and labor law.
