In the history of legal thoughts in China, Xue Yunsheng is well known by everyone as a law scholar. He is very diligence in his life. He got First-degree Scholar in twenty-one years old, and because of supporting the family in which there is an older weak and sick mother, he has to get the Jinshi until he was nearly fourty years old, and enter the Ministry of Punishments in feudal China at last, in which He engaged in the administration of justice for40years. Xue Yunsheng has extensive experience in judicial practice.He studied law in her spare time and read a lot of ancient jurisprudence books. He can be said to be very knowledgeable. Xue Yunsheng combineds Judicial experience which is got from working in the Ministry of Punishments in feudal China with jurisprudence theory. He is the author of "Questions about the law","Tang law and Ming law eds,"" Mourning apparel system preparing for the examination ","Han law reservation" and other important works. Based on extensive historical data and related writings,this paper summarizes the extensive legal thought which was reflected from his writings. In this paper, I use examples to explain the legal thought of Xue Yunsheng. This paper is divided into four chapters in total. The first chapter introduces the life of Xue Yunsheng, also introduces the unique background and ideological origins of His legal thought. The second chapter describes the legislative thinking of Xue Yunsheng mainly from that the law should be harmonized and be with the times, be brief and fair, paying attention to combination of etiquette and law, and abolishing severe law four areas. The third chapter introduces the idea of law enforcement of Xue Yunsheng. The fourth chapter is about the evaluation of Xue Yunsheng’s legal thought.It Contains the influence,limition of his legal thought and the significance of building a modern rule of law.
