A Study On The Social Mobility Of The New Generation Migrant Workers

In the recent three decades after opening-up and reform, the rural migrant workers began to intergeneration alternate. The rural migrant workers of new generation who were born after1980are ascended to the history stage and are becoming the elite of rural migrant workers. These new generations with higher education, higher job expectancy and more material&cultural demands, who are very different from their parents. They dream of the civilized and modern urban way of life, but they could not integrate into city life and city society because of some differences and limits.Therefore, it not only helps to improve the Government’s handling of the issue of floating population, but also is of great significance to promote the urbanization, process and to build of a harmonious society, by analyzing the new generation of migrant workers social mobility.A study uses a combination of literature analysis and field research, takes Hanchuan236new generation of migrant workers as a respective case, analyzes the social mobility of the new generation of migrant workers’ status.The first part is introduction to the study of background,the related research carried out brief analysis and explanation. The second part is the related conceptions and theories. The third part of this paper describes the characteristics and the social mobility condition of the new generation of migrant workers. The fourth part, from polity, social network and the new generation of migrant workers themselves to discuss the factors. The last part is the conclusion and the countermeasure upon the social mobility of the new generation of migrant workers.We draw the following conclusions:First, the social mobility of the new generation of migrant workers are getting new traits, when compared with the original generation of migrants.They move more and more frequent,their flow desires tend to be more stronger and flowing in various forms.even more,their flowing motivations tend from survivorship to development.Second,new generation of migrant workers’ social mobility is influenced by individual quality,family and social system.including Congenital factors,acquired disposition and the social network capital.Third,there is a tension between the strong development demands of new generation migrant workers and the existing unfair social system,such as household registration system,educational system,social security system.For their social institutions are pathetic which restrict new generation of migrant workers’upward mobility.However,we find the new generation are trying to change that limits,they have full confidence in raising their social standing.In order to let all new generation of migrant workers use up their each can,each is in his proper place,So individual households, society, government should take some measures to help their new generation migrants to raise social standing. On the one hand, we should structure a social mobility mechanism of justice and equity, even the mechanism for interest demands and interest. On the other hand, new generation of migrant workers should improve their over all quality.
