Industrialization and urbanization develop with inevitable transfer of surplus rural labor force to the city. Surplus rural labor force transferring to the city generally has two stages: first stage, surplus rural labor force comes into being due to mechanized production and then flows to urban for work, namely ‘‘non-agricultural – urbanization’’ process; second stage, rural migrant workers achieve to settle in the city and merge into the urban life, namely ‘‘citizenization’’ process. rural migrant workers are transitional group during the process of urbanization, intergenerational differences among them are becoming prominent along with intergenerational transformation. Knowing the differences between new and old generations of migrant workers in individual characteristics, merging degree and influential factors during social integration plays an important role on the correspondingly adjusting policies of Chongqing, maintaining of migrant workers’ legitimate rights and implementing of their social integration.Chongqing is one of China’s four municipalities directly under the central control and also one of the five central cities. As China’s only provincial-level administrative unit balancing urban and rural comprehensive coordinated reform pilot site, Chongqing not only has huge output of migrant workers but also huge employment of migrant workers. However, the generational differences within the group of migrant workers, especially the integration issue did not receive wide attention. This paper mainly talks about the integration issue of Chongqing rural migrant workers, based on the survey data of Chongqing five functional zones, to analyze the influential factors of merging degree between the two generations of migrant workers by regression method. The analysis results show that the merging degree of the two generations has significant differences, social capital on the impact of the first generation during social integration is higher than the new generation, however, human capital has a greater impact on the new generation. The influence of institutional coefficient on the social integration of migrant workers is not significant.
