On Rawls' Principle Of Equal Opportunity And Its Enlightenment

Justice is the eternal common value and basic behavior guideline of human society. The equality of opportunity is an important process to realize it. For modern China, it has great significance to talk about the principle of equal opportunity.In the early1970s, there was a great book named A Theory of Justice which is wrote by John Rawls who was a famous professor of Harvard. He discussed and analyzed deeply about the two basic principles of justice and the principle of the equality of opportunity is an important part of it.This thesis begins with the introduction of the theory of justice, then arise the principle of the equality of opportunity. The connotation and significance of the principle of the equality of opportunity is analyzed, and the related problems of the reality of modern Chinese society is appraised according to the the principle of the equality of opportunity. With the revelation of the the principle of the equality of opportunity, I present my own opinions and suggestions to the solutions to these problems.The second part is about the basic requirements of the principle of the equality of opportunity, including the requirement in form and the requirement in substance.The third part combined China’s current social situation and talked about the main problem related he principle of the equality of opportunity. The phenomenon of unequal opportunity of education and employment is serious. I discussed it and tried to give some suggestions with the revelation of the principle of the equality of opportunity.
