John E.Romer is one of the representatives of Analytical Marxism. His idea of justice has considerable influence in the international arena. The Romer is a political scholar and also a economist. So he is different from other scholars who concern distributive justice. He devoted to integrate the economics and political philosophy. Thus, his theory of justice has a closer contact with reality and is more feasible. Early, John E.Romer thought that exploitation theory of Marx was not able to describe the contemporary capitalist social injustice. So he abandoned the labor theory of value and attempted to use the microscopic equilibrium model to create a new theory base for the exploitation theory----he original uneven distribution of property. He tried to explain the cause of social inequality in a bigger scale. Later he turned attention to political philosophy, trying to provide a theoretical guidance for realistic allocation policy.Foreign scholars mostly comment on some specific point of Romer’s theory and adopt discussion model, such as criticizing Romer’s exploitation theory or theory of couponsocialism. Because the scholars in our country do not participate in western distributive justice dicussion and lack the background of discussion, the domestic research on Romer is just introducing Romer’s text or introducing Romer’s theory in the framework of Analytical Marxism. This paper not only transversely introduce Romer’s theory, but try to explore theoretical and realistic background of Romer’s theory. Romer’s theory is based on western judge on Marx economics and western distributive justice argument. Only by understanding the background of Romer’s theory, we can see Romer’s potential logic. When we analyze the potential logic of Romer, the reason that Romer gets different ideas of justice from Marx will show in front of us. Simply criticizing the difference between Romer and Marx is of no significance. Critical view of Romer’s potential logic, which is different from Marx’s, will give us enlightenment on our income distribution reform. The first chapter introduces the background of Romer’s theory, which concludes ideological context and reality background. The ideological context is very important to understand Romer’s theory. If you do not understand the ideological context, you will feel some important judgement that Romer made, such as the negation of labor theory of value, is too hasty and even misunderstand some terms of Romer. For example, the terms, such as’’equality of opportunity"."self ownership", are born in earlier distributive justice theory before Romer’s and have special ideological content. We can not understand them by their literal meanings. Understanding the realistic background can let us know which situation Romer’s theory can applied to. For example, the Soviet Union does not exist any longer, but the existence of socialist exploitation is still worthy of our attention. The second chapter introduce Romer’s justice thought, including early exploitation theory and latter equality of opportunity theory. To introduce Romer’s exploitation theory, this paper emphasizes several exploitation models. Romer think that microeeonomic equilibrium model is more convincing. Realizing Romer’s logic start, which is different from Marx’s, is very helpful to understand Romer’s whole logic. Equality of opportunity theory is the guiding principle that overcome the capitalist social inequality, which is cause by the uneven distribution of property. And equality of opportunity can give us direct enlightenment on our reform of income distribution. This paper do not mention Romer’s coupon-socialism theory, because those specific measures are imagined to apply in western background. This paper just focuses on Romer’s justice thought. The third chapter criticize Romer’s thought by Marx’s perspective to find out why Romer and Marx get different conclusion on the basis of the former two chapters. This paper criticize Romer’s thought by Marx’s view from two different perspective, one is from their different method, another is from economics and political-philosophy perspective. The last chapter talk about the enlightenment of Romer’s theory on current reform of income distribution in our country.
