On November21,2013, the then President of Ukraine,Viktor Yanukovichannounced the suspension of signing agreements with the European Union, namelyUkraine—EU Association Agreement, while tend to sign an agreement with Russia.And it sparked Ukraine’s political crisis, and worse: the autonomous republic ofCrimea quickly announced to depart from Ukraine, and joined the Russian federation;Some states, especially in eastern Ukraine,such as Luhansk and Donetsk, declared toindependence from Ukraine, and started to fight with the government of Ukraine; OnJuly17, the MH17plane was attacked in the eastern region of Ukraine and crashed,lead to all the passengers dead, which led to a precipitous decline in Russia’s relationswith the west. Ukrainian crisis continues to be the world’s hot topic.The reasons of the Ukrainian crisis were closely related to America and Russia,which both have been trying to affect the government of Ukraine for a long time. Andmany scholars try to analysis the influence of the Ukrainian crisis to the relationsbetween America and Russia. Some believe that the Ukrainian crisis may lead to a“new cold war” between America and Russia. While others believe that the crisis willnot make the US-Russia relations back to the tenses during the cold war. The paperargue that the outbreak and persistence of the crisis will undoubtedly bring seriousnegative impact to the US-Russia relations. But considering the problems of economicglobalization, the US and Russia’s respective strength and intention, some regionalhot issues, the rising China’s power and some global problems, the paper pointed outthat the crisis will not lead to a “new cold war” between America and Russia.
