Ethnic relationship is a critical relationship concerning about the steady development and national unity of a region. Xinjiang is in the northwest frontier of the motherland, it has important geographical position, many indigenous peoples and cross-border ethnic groups. As one of the regions have the most complicated ethnic composition of our country, it has always been a high incidence area of all sorts of problems. So it is a very important and necessary task to study how to handle the ethnic relations in Xinjiang multi-ethnic region.Starting from the state role in the ethnic relationship, this paper analyzes the existing problems as well as the main factors by studying to the development history and current status of ethnic relations in Xinjiang, and finally come up with the countermeasures for the development and adjustment of the ethnic relationship in Xinjiang.According to the author, the development of national relations has intimate contact with the country. National territory, sovereignty, the system and structure play important roles in the process of the ethnic relations development. There are many factors that can affect the healthy development of ethnic relations in Xinjiang, the gap of economic development, national distribution pattern and inside and outside environment are important factors in which country factors cannot be ignored. Analyzing these unfavorable factors and put forward the corresponding countermeasures is advantageous to the guidance and regulation of national relationship, thus realize Xinjiang’s ethnic solidarity and common development. As the dominant force for the development of the ethnic relations in Xinjiang, the government should accomplish the top-level design, perfect the system, laws, regulations and policies from the aspects such as political, economic, social, cultural, and the external environment, etc.; optimize the allocation of resources, narrow the gap between the development of ethnic economy; build social structure and community environment that all nationalities embedded to each other various nationalities, strengthen the social cultural exchanges between the various nationalities; resolutely combat and prevent ethnic separatist forces, gain the initiative in ethnic relations development direction, conduct accurate guide to Xinjiang ethnic relations from the national level, promote Xinjiang’s stability and prosperity.
