Design And Realization Of Serial-Device Network Management Box

Network management(NM) technology has being developing rapidly since SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) was published at the end of 1980s.It becomes an essential element in constructing and maintaining networks along with the enhancement of management functions and expanding of managed objects.But not all network devices support SNMP, such as the early devices and nor-core devices (UPS, NAS etc.) and some important soft services (Network Firewall, Database etc.) phase in scope of network management. To manage these nor-SNMP devices in the same platform with SNMP software, some technology are proposed, for example, NM based on WEB, NM based on CORBA and NM based on Proxy-Agent. The thesis studies the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies.According to the status in quo of NM, a case of NM Box is presented in the thesis, then we deeply study and discuss the realization of embedded proxy agent. This project can help NMS managing maximum managed objects (SNMP-supported or not) by SNMP and resolving the problem of implementing the underlying management protocol.Contra posed this status, the thesis discusses how to implement the SNMP manager and the proxy agent. The combination of these two components can help NMS managing maximum managed objects (SNMP-supported or not) by SNMP and resolving the problem of implementing the underlying management protocol.The universal and scalability are two important factors in system implementation due to the multiform management and managed objects. For this purpose, we apply the design patterns in system design and implementation and cut the model of re-parsing and table node.After the introduction of SNMP, necessary technologies of embedded system, the thesis covers some key technologies in more realization details of NM box and embedded proxy agent. At last design principle and implementation are discussed thoroughly.
