| With the rapid development of network technology, more and more network devices are being used. At present, it is an urgent need for the embedded device monitoring system to resolve the problem that how to get the real-time status information of the current running device, so that manager can learn running condition of the device at all time and is able to take action to fix it in time while equipment failure happens.SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a very popular protocol in the embedded area, and it has been used to monitor and manage network device since the late 1980s. As a traditional client/server protocol, SNMP can be used to collect status and statistic information of network device.Based on the SNMP protocol, a design and implementation method of embedded equipment monitoring system is presented in this dissertation. The manager station can manage multiple monitored devices connected with SNMP agent, it send command to the agent via socket communication, and status information which the manager station needs is sent back by the agent after its response, then the information will be displayed on the graphical interface of the manager station.The agent software is developed at the environment of real-time operating system VxWorks'Tornado, it runs on the logic personal computer in the form of virtual machine, whereas the manager station, which is developed at the environment of VC++6.0, works on Windows Operating System, it has the basic functions of querying and setting.The choose of embedded real-time operating system VxWorks is able to ensure not only that the device manager station and network managing agent system own outstanding processing ability and stability, but that the real-time processing requirements of the system is met. |
