The Discussion On The Development Of Processing Trade In Western China

since the implementation of the Reform and Opening-up Policy, the processing trade of China has saw a quick development in coastal regions. After more than twenty years, It has become one of the major patterns of China's foreign trade, which plays an important role in improving technology, increasing employment and promoting the development of China's economy.The region distribution of the processing trade is very uneven in China, mainly gathering in eastern areas. While western areas , with abundant natural resources, cheap labor resources, science resources and preferential policies have failed to make a full use of the processing trade. Nowadays, under the influence of economic globalization, and with the entry into WTO and the adjustment of industrial structure of eastern areas, the opportunity has come for western areas to develop the processing trade. However, the intense competition of the international market, the existing problems of the industrytransfer in eastern areas and the deficiency of Western China-all have caused therelatively slow development of processing trade. So, to enhance the processing trade in Western areas, it is necessary to quicken the pace of opening up, make policies to support processing trade, make big efforts to develop characteristic processing trade and improve the quality of processing enterprises and so on.
