Study On The Competitiveness Of Qingdao Port

The eastern coastal part of China has become the most developed economy band of the nation, which makes it strategically important to China's development. During the development of coastal districts of China, ocean ports play an very important role and grow up to three port agglomerations including the south port agglomeration of China with Shenzhen as the center, the east port agglomeration of China with Shanghai as the center, and the north port agglomeration of China without center. Competition between the three main ports of the north port agglomeration of China is getting increasingly violent.Qingdao port, as a big international port of North China, is to become an important international shipping center of north China this year, according to its development layout and objectives. Now, it is very meaningful to seek the approaches to upgrade Qingdao port's competitiveness by analyzing its advantages, weakness, opportunities and threat during the competition with its rivals among the north port agglomeration of China.In this thesis, firstly it gives introductions of basic theories of competition between ports and gets the definition of port's competitiveness by analyzing and introducing the definition of enterprise's competitiveness. Meanwhile, it analyzes the development of the port economy of Qingdao and introduces the condition of the port agglomeration around Bohai, so as to give us a clear profile of Qingdao and other ports around Bohai.Then, through the build-up of the appraisal index system and the appraisal method of port competitiveness, it compares the competitiveness of Qingdao port with its main rivals of the north port agglomeration of China, Tianjin port and Dalian port, and ranks their competitiveness. In this way, it finds the condition of Qingdao port's competitiveness and the mean factors that affect its competitivenss.At last, based on above analysis and by the adoption of SWOT method, it puts up Qingdao port's strategy orientation and searches detailed strategics to promote its competitiveness.
