"Co-competition" means that one enterprise not only competes with other enterprises in the same industry, but also cooperates with them. Enterprise's ultimate aim is to acquire more benefits through competition, however cooperation is also a means of competition. More and more enterprises begin to expand own competition region and at the same time raise negotiating ability with suppliers and customers through cooperate with other enterprises in the same industry so that increase the benefits and competitive power both of own and the whole industry. Co-competition does not like the traditional resist competition, but is a "double win" competition way under new economic environment.With highly development of international shipping market, especially rapid prosperity of waterway transport market in China, China's port industry also grows fast. After the transition period of "functional splitting of the government and enterprises", port enterprises have established independent status in market. Then Chinese port enterprises have also lost monopoly status in the past and really participate into market competition as legal person with independent right and who is responsible for business activities. So under more and more extensive competition condition, in order to exist and pursue more benefits, Chinese port enterprises carry out various strategies such as building lager terminals, raise production capacity and enlarge own scale etc. As a result there is much phenomena of resist competition, even vicious competition among Chinese port enterprises, which certainly weakens the whole competitive power of port industry in China. So in recent years, Chinese port enterprises have began to realize the importance of Co-competition and to positively cooperate with other competitors instead of acting only for own interests. Therefore the Co-competition trend of Chinese port enterprises is more obvious and the ultimate aim for them is to form health situation of Co-competition.As the rapid development of many seaports in China, there are more and more discussions about seaports how to cooperate with each other. Contrarily the development of inland ports legs far behind which of seaports and these are less research on their Co-competition.
