Research On "Human-centered Thought" In Chinese Urbanization

This thesis aims to combine the practice of Chinese urbanization and "human-centered" theory, and then to seek a "human-centered" way for urbanization through the combination.It begins with the definition of city, urbanization from the analysis to the history of the two. City is a container created by human for better life, and has different capacity according to people's different needs which are worthy to pay attention to. The state-owned city belongs to the whole people, so the people's need includes all of us in the city. Urbanization is a process which manifests the process of change from the countryside to the city and the development of the city itself. The relationship between them is that city is the purpose of the urbanization, and urbanization is the way of city realization.In reality, most cities have many kinds of unpleasant problems. The reason is that, essentially speaking, it is deviated from the purpose of both city and urbanization in the process of urbanization; and in an expressional way, it displays with the lack of "human-centered thought" in this process. Thus in the next part it educes the instructing mind of urbanization-"human-centered thought", and followed with the analysis to understand it. Applying to Chinese urbanization it means that the process of urbanization should try best to consider the needs of all residents in the city.And in the next chapter of the thesis it analyses specifically the performance and the reason of "human-centered thought" lack in the urbanization process according to the history of urbanization in our country. This part divides into three parts, the forerunner of urbanization-urban plan and community policy which are lack of human-centered consideration at most time, but practically guide the direction of our urbanization. The leading actor of urbanization-the city government cannot be more "human-centered", but have the power to make the final decision in urbanization. The main body of urbanization-the citizen cannot realize the "people" in "human-centered thought" which including all of them, but they are the person who have the most authority and duty to give advices for urbanization.Based on the front analysis, the paper tries to propose a human-centered way for urbanization in the last part from three aspects as follows. Urban plan, as forerunner, not only should be more objective, but also more comprehensive and public to face the citizen. The government, as leading actor, has important things to do which are changing their mind, respecting the resident, and controlling their power with the law. And the citizens then need tobe educated to promote their mind, and be able to have ability to participate decision-making for urbanization.
