In recent years, the phenomena of employment discrimination have caused people extensive concern in our country. This paper introduces the foundational theories of employment discrimination and analyzes our current existence of six kinds of main employment discrimination in detail, including age discrimination, sex discrimination, huji discrimination, disease discrimination, educational background and experience discrimination, height and appearance discrimination. Meanwhile, the paper analyzes their causes respectively. About the serious sex discrimination, the paper uses the method of the sample survey to workers of urban enterprises in Wuhan, making use of regression analysis to calculate degrees of sex discrimination in the compensation, proves the sex discrimination exists in China and the serious degree of sex discrimination. The employment discrimination have especial causes, at the same time, it has serious harm to our country. The paper also introduces and draws lessons from the main measures of counter-employment discrimination in the United States, joins together the special background of employment of our country, for solving the employment problems, put forward to enact the Act against employment discrimination, set up an administrative organization countering employment discrimination; reform the system of labor continuously; consummate country occupation standards; improve the labor market, strengthen the Labor Union; encourage enterprises to join in the system of social duty standard(SA8000), improve civilization of the public, etc. to eliminate employment discrimination.
