Although with the word's economy development, more and more female workers enter the workforce ,the proportion of female top managers is uncoordinated .Under this background, many interested researchers began to study it .In 1986, the reporter in the Wall Street Journal used the word "the glass ceiling" to describe the intangible barrier that hinder the female to reach the top in American company.In China's organization, the high level position have less females comparing to the lower positions, and in the wages, the welfare and the work privilege aspects, the female still were lower than the male. The opportunity to be employed in China for female is less than the male. Therefore Korabik pointed out, the Chinese female also have barriers in career and face the "the glass ceiling" phenomenon.Besides the discrimination from the employers, the work-family conflict reasons the foreign scholars' researches indicated that to obtain the high level management position ,having motivation to manage is the most important factor. And some researches found that the female' motivation to manage are weaker than the male's.This article mainly discuss the relations between the sex roles and motivation to manage The sex roles are the behavior system that recognized by certain culture system ,meanwhile it includes the basic manner and the emotion which were regarded as female or male .The sex role is the product of social history culture, its contents were affected much by social culture . This study will research whether the Chinese female have perceived "the glass ceiling"? Is there relationship between motivation to manage and reaching the top? Is there relationship between sex roles and the motivation to manage?This article analyze the data from 112 employees and 27 students with SPSS 11.5 software . This study gets the following conclusions:The Chinese female did not perceive the existence of " glass ceiling" . The proportions of double sex role and unobvious sex role are high which indicated with society's development, the limits to sex roles become less. The male have more motivation to get power comparing with the female. The male role' influence on motivation to get power is much more than sex. The more the motivation to get power, the betterexpected career future . Therefore, the sex role which reorganized by social culture will affect the motivation to manage, then affect the expected career future . For female , to realize oneself ,she must try to own the two roles' characteristics which were valued well by society . We also should have open mind on sex roles , and try our best to build a free and open social environment.
