Land is the basic bearer of urban development, and city planning is essentially the process of utilizing urban land. The dissertation focus on the land utilization and economy geographic and the process and regular patterns of the utilization of urban land of Baotou and the opinion is presented that the future trend of urban land utilizing of Baotou including space layout, space distribution and grading is not only to make the theory of urban land utilization an authentic proof in Baotou, but also to become a practice of the utilization of urban land of Baotou.With the assistance of the study achievement to urban planning and its relevant subjects, utilizating the theory of land economy and geografic economy, this dissertation conducted the research from three aspects to the Baotou city land utilization.1. Space layout of the utilization of urban land of Baotou. Around 100 years sees the utilization of urban land of Baotou, and space layout is characteristically formed in different periods. In terms of space forming a pattern of frog jumping is employed. The space shape of land utilization is a combination of loose grouping and compact grouping, and the characteristic shown in distributing the land for different use is distinct, which reveals the primary layout pattern of land utilization of an industrial city. In terms of land- utilization characteristics the industrial area holds a large proportion, and the residential area is rapidly increasing. The larger public area for each person is its prominent characteristic.2. Based on the location theory an analysis is made on the characteristics and current situation of location options in the distribution of residential area, business area and the area for industry and office in the city of Baotou. and on the trend of space layoutof urban land utilization for various purposes as well.3. From the points of view of both comprehension and grading the urban land utilization is graded on the elements affecting the urban land utilization, and an analysis is made on the quality difference and space layout of three sorts of land for business, residences and industry.Therefore, the study on the Utilization of Urban Land of Baotou both may analyze the characteristic of the industrial city land utilization, and may provides the facts to roster the new turn of land utilization master plan and the city master plan for Baotou, but also may provide the mentality for the Baotou city land reasonable use.
