With the accelerating of economic globalization trend and increasing of international intercourse frequency, conventions and exhibitions have been paid more attention all over the world for their functions on promoting economic communication and trade development.Convention & Exhibition economy is a new type of economy , whose main parts are conventions and exhibitions, and it is an outcome of social economy development . As a composite economy that has high gathering effect and radiant effect, convention & exhibition economy' s direct driving effect to such industries of transportation, food and drink, hotel, travel and retailing etc. may reach 1:9. Because of its distinct driving effect on city' s construction, economic development and technologic advance, convention & exhibition economy is often called "bread of the city".After a persistently and steadily economy development for ten years, our country has made a progress in many fields, especially for some industries of the third industry which have become the dominant force of the national economy growth. As an important aspect and burgeoning industry of the third industry, modern convention & exhibition industry shows a favorable development prospect. Since reform and opening policy was carried out, convention & exhibition industry has developed with a rate of 20% per year, which shows that convention & exhibition industry is a brilliant industry in China. In recent years, domestic exhibition areas has increased many times, the scale and range of exhibitions also expanded sharply and some influential exhibitions in the international market come forth.The sixteenth delegate conference of the party put forward "to accelerate modern service industry development, boost the proportion of the third industry in the national economy. " As an important component of modern service industry in the next 5- lOyears, Convention & exhibition economy may continue developing at an increase rate of 15—20% with the domestic economy keeping increasing at an rate of 7% or so, which means convention & exhibition industry will turn into grow—up from give-birth period and bear a more capacious development space.Nowadays, Shanghai has become one of the 3 biggest Conference & exhibition centers in China. The Changning District, which is part of shanghai, has a strong Conference & exhibition industry background. Since the conference exhibition can largely improve a city' s business and economic, the Conference & exhibition has been adopted to be part of the blueprint, and was supported as the core industry and the new point of the district economic development. However, the foundation of Shanghai new international Expo center and Shanghai successful bid for the World Expo 2010 changed the situation of the Conference & exhibition industryin Shanghai. The Changning is no longer the only one monopoly in Conference & exhibition industry in Shanghai. This dissertation is aimed to find out the advantage of Changning Conference & exhibition industry; exceed the choke point of it so as to got an idea of where and how to move on forward.Guided by my tutor and considering about the actual situation of Changning district; I finished the dissertation by taking reference of so much literature about Conference & exhibition industry and doing investigation in the exhibition enterprises of the district.Since the research upon Conference & exhibition has just began in china; there is little article and method to be use for reference. Moreover; the Conference & exhibition industry is still developing; which is greatly changeable. In this case; the analysis and expatiation in this dissertation may still have a long way.
