Modern Project Management In Application Of EQA Business Excellence Model Establishment

The European Quality Award (EQA) is the prestigious Quality Award in Europe. It is theaward for companies or organizations' excellence performance. It is called TQM(TotalQuality Management) European model. The goal of this award is same as Edward DewingPrize and Malcolm Baldrige Award, to promote quality improvement activities, improve theawareness of the quality improvement and quality management technology utilization. Itrecognizes the enterprises that show excellence quality commitments in order to improve theEuropean enterprises' competitiveness within the global market. EQA is organized andreviewed by EFQM (European Foundation Quality Manangement), its model is calledBusiness Excellence Model.Project Management has a very long history, ie. Great wall built in ancient China,pyramid built in Egypt, etc. These great buildings are all typical examples of successfulproject management. Moreover, people pay more attention to project management due tothe success of the Manhattan plan and Apollo moon plan. With the development of theglobal economy, project management is developing much faster and becoming an individualscience. With its promotion within the global area, project management has alreadypopularized into enterprises' daily operation and has already been the effective way to reactto the complicated market and achieve the company's strategies and objectives.Project Management is not only popular and mature in the developed countries andareas, but also has great progress in the electronics, telecom and automobile industry inChina. This dissertation expounds how to utilize the Project Management's theories andapproaches for EQA excellence performance model establishment, and how to reach EQAlevel in order to improve enterprises' competitiveness, improve product quality level, increasecustomer loyalty, etc. It analyses and describes the EQA project from scope management,time management and quality management, etc. This dissertation also introduces the threemain Quality Award, which are Dewing Prize, Malcolm Baldrige Award and European QualityAward. Although this dissertation only take the EQA as an example to explain the utilizationof the Project Management 's theories and approaches, it can also use for reference for theother Quality Award application.
