The existence of urban agglomerations is characterized by regional urbanization and urban regionalization. As an advanced stage phenomenon of regional urbanization , urban agglomerations is created by conglomerate and diffusion. Specially , the economic globalization and regional economic integration require the enhancement of the power of urban agglomerations.Urban agglomerations will be gradually focused by more and more scholars.The evolution of urban agglomerations includes many contents , such as population , industry , type of cities , function of cities and so on. The most comperhensive and direct expression that urban agglomerations evolve is spatial process. The evolution of the structure follows the laws of urban growth and regional economic development. Concentration of industries and evolvement of industrial structures are immediacy powers of spatial expansion of urban agglomeration. There has a close connection between urban agglomerations structure development and industrial development.In view of evolvement and fragmentate of value chains , district economic development , changes of the urban function , the paper firstly discusses the relationship of the value chains and the spatial process for the evolution of urban agglomeration of the expanding of enterprises and the structrue of the urban agglomeration based on the theory of value chainsThis paper takes urban agglomeration in Changjiang river delta , zhujiang river delta , and Southeastern fujian province as the research case, analyzes the spatial process for the evolution of urban agglomerations, studies its dynamic mechanism , and describes its basic features and regulars from the structure of urban agglomerations , changes of the urban function , and the evolvement of value chains. At last , thepaper reveals the connections between the evolution of ruban agglomerations and the evolvement of value chains.
