As a typical representative of clustered economies, urban agglomerations have a significant impact on the development of regional economies. The balanced development of the region has always been one of the focuses of the Chinese government.Since the 1990 s,many scholars have paid special attention to the coordinated development of urban agglomerations and made great progress in solving the regional imbalanced development in China. After the 21 st century,China's economic take-off has created more complex regional coordination problems, and the current urban agglomeration problem has become more difficult than in the past. Therefore, the state has successively implemented strategies such as the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.At the same time, the “Guangdong,Hong Kong and Macao Dawan District Development Plan”,the “New Mechanism for Regional Coordination Development” and the “Guiding Opinions of the National Development and Reform Commission on Cultivating and Developing Modern Metropolitan Areas” The series of documents and the release of the plan have marked the new stage of coordinated development of China's urban agglomerations. With a long-term goal and overall strategy in mind, sichuan accelerated the layout of regional coordinated development strategy. In 2018,the sichuan provincial government proposed to accelerate the implementation of the development strategy of "one stem, multiple branches and five districts".The third plenary session of the 11 th sichuan provincial party committee proposed to form a new three-dimensional and comprehensive opening trend of "four-directional expansion and all-region opening",with the emphasis on "highlighting the south",which will become the focus of sichuan's transportation construction in the future and usher in a new development opportunity for the south sichuan city cluster.South sichuan city cluster is connected with chengduchongqing in the north and yunnan-guizhou in the south, which is an overland bridge connecting chengdu-chongqing economic circle. It is the second largest emerging growth pole in sichuan province, accounting for one fifth of the total GDP of sichuan province, second only to chengdu plain economic zone in sichuan province, and an important support for balancing the coordinated development of sichuan province. The economic development of south sichuan city cluster has a good foundation and great potential. However, compared with chengdu plain economic zone and other domestic city clusters, there is still much room for progress in terms of development scale, quality and system. Therefore, this paper focuses on the coordinated development of south sichuan city cluster. The coordinated development of urban agglomeration is to optimize urban spatial distribution and maximize utilization of resources through the mutual cooperation and linkage of various resource elements within the region,so as to promote the development of urban agglomeration towards the optimal direction.Coordinated development of urban agglomeration is an academic concept, but also a dynamic process.Concept in this paper,we study the coordinated development of urban agglomerations, and using the combination of qualitative and quantitative empirical analysis method, the basis of measurement of urban agglomeration coordinated development level, finding the problems and explore the reasons, from the coordinated development mechanism, the transport infrastructure, the level of urbanization, industrial development, etc, put forward measures to promote the development of sichuan urban agglomeration subject, elements of coordination,to provide the reference for the sichuan urban agglomeration development.
