Analysis Of The Competitiveness Of Shanghai's Software Industry

Software industry is the core and soul of information industry, and the basis of the national economy's informational process. In the long run, software industry should be the strategic leading industry which deciding the international competitiveness of a country in the 21st century, should be the industry that could make our country catch up with the global advanced level under the new economic situation. Software industry plays a determinant role in the information industry's development; meanwhile developing the software industry performs a vital role in our country's industrial structure optimization and national economical operation quality improvement.Having given an insight into the connotation of the software industry, the character of software industry, and some related theories of the industrial competitiveness, this thesis constructs the competitiveness indicator system of software industry. And then, according to this system, the thesis makes a comparative analysis between Shanghai and Beijing. After that, the thesis founds, in all respects of the software industry competitiveness, Shanghai falls behind Beijing. Shanghai could upgrade its software industry competitiveness by learning the experience from Beijing and other successful district.This thesis is divided into six chapters. In the first chapter, the background of the topic choice is elaborated. The software industry's definition and the characteristic of the software industry are mentioned. The second chapter is about the industrial competitiveness' connotation and some related theories. The theories include the academic basis on industrial competitiveness, the theory of industrial competitiveness' origin, and the theory of industrial competitiveness' quantitative analysis. In the third chapter, the software industry's competitiveness indicator system is constructed. This competitiveness indicator system includes five aspects: the software industry's industrial investment, the industry's industrial output, the quality of enterprise, the industry's regional innovative milieu and the degree of industrial cluster in certain district. The fourth chapter is the section for case analysis. Shanghai and Beijing are chosen and the thesis makes a comparative analysis of their software industry competitiveness. In the fifth chapter, integrating the main problems during Shanghai's software industry's development analyzed above, some countermeasures are suggested.
