Research On The Application Of Concept Map In Knowledge Management

Knowledge has been regarded unprecedentedly foremost and leading element in the economy society. People emphasize the importance of knowledge on one hand, on the other hand, make every efforts to explore the best practice of knowledge management in order to gain more profits and leading edge among competitors. Thus, knowledge management is the impetus that drives organization upgrading.Concept map(CM) is one type of cognition tool which is able to graphically present concepts and their relations, also it is an effective self-regulation tool with which people can reflect their own cognition and inspire the production of new knowledge.The paper introduces the concept map into knowledge management research. The purpose of doing this is to integrate knowledge elements into business process so as to increase or create the new knowledge within the cycle of business process. According to the characteristics of knowledge and business process, the paper brings forward two types of concept map, Knowledge-entity oriented CM and Process oriented CM. The knowledge-entity oriented CM is the carrier and network of organizational knowledge model, which facilitates the query and understanding. The process oriented CM combines the knowledge, process and personnel together in virtue of knowledge storyboard. By doing this, the rich knowledge working context is established.The paper briefly describes a practice in an advertising agency and designs the prototype system according to the theory the paper stated. The system can be used to management knowledge and project. However, there is still much work to do on demonstration.
