In contemporary society, global economic are rapidly increasing as globalization develops. But at the same time, the poverty problem not only doesn't abate, but also on the wane, especially in the south of Asia. For hundreds of years, south Asia has being on the edge of the global economic system, has a great many of poor people. How about the poverty problem in south of Asia? Why they are so poor? How to solve this problem? With these questions, the author studied the poverty problem in south of Asia and wrote this thesis.In the foreword, author sums up the data that probe into the poverty problem in south of Asia, introduces the importance of study on this problem. The poverty problem is related to the development of country and stability of society.In the first chapter, on the basis of definition of south of Asia, the author expatiates the main situation of this area, in terms of its geography, the political and economy general.In second chapter, the author sums up the status and characteristics of the poverty problem in the south of Asia. Firstly, it defines poverty through using the entitlement approach. Then, it analyses the status of the poverty problem, as follows: one, most of countries in south Asia are extremely poor, the development of economy is very slowly. Two, the chance of employment is few; the rate of the unemployed is high; Last, it analyses the characteristics of the poverty problem, as follows: one, the main phenomenon in south Asia is that countries are highly poor, farmers are most difficult. Two, the development between different areas is imbalanced; the gap between city and rural areas is great. Three, the inequality between different genders and the education inequality between city and rural areas.And then, the author analyses the reasons of the problem. The reasons include the outer and inner causations. In outer, the causations include aggression and plunder of colonialism; the bad effect of globalization and deterioration of trading environment; natural disaster's effect. In inner, there are five reasons: lack of capital for development; the overgrowth of the population; the corruption of government, distributive irrationality; the feud between different religions, ethnics and nations; discrimination on women, especially the women in countries.On the basis of former analysis; the author put forward some countermeasures to...
