Currently,diamond saw blade is the largest consumption of diamond tools. Generally, larger sizeddiamond saw were made by powder metallurgy sintering technology. In this process, diamond issimply mechanically embedded by metal matrix..In the process of cutting, the diamond oftenshedding seriously cause the blade shapness decrease and short life. Although brazing techniques canachieve chemical bonding between the diamond and the metal matrix get higher holding force for thediamond. its only manufacturing the single-layer brazing diamond tools by the brazing process limits.Reference brazing technology for the diamond surface, use such diamond as grains making amulti-layer sintered diamond saw which has the effect of brazing successfully.The main contents ofthis paper are:(1) Using Cu-based alloy develop a complete producing process of the brazed diamond, makingCu-Sn-Ti alloy pre-brazed diamond successfully. Pre-brazing diamond cause small decrease instrength and toughness compared with conventional diamond.(2) Analysis of the pre-brazed diamond interface microstructure and thermal damage useing ofscanning electron microscopy(SEM). Finding pre-brazed diamond interface exists element diffusionand enrichment phenomenon and form chemical bonding at interface. Cu-Sn-Ti alloy cause lessthermal damage.(3) Analysis of the pre-brazed diamond and the metal matrix interface using SEM. Findingpre-brazed diamond compact with the metal matrix and there exists element diffusion between thepre-brazed diamond and the matrix and form chemical metallurgical bond improve the hold force ofthe diamond(4) Using conventional`diamond, coated diamond and pre-brazed diamond as grains to makeΦ350mm diamond circular saws. cutting test show that the pre-brazed diamond saw blade sharpnessand life are better than conventional diamond,and coated diamond saws. In heavy-duty machiningconditions this advantage more obvious.
