Study On Vehicle Pollution And Control Strategies In Xi’an

With the deepening of China’s reform and opening up, the economy of Xi’an developsrapidly and the living standard of the citizens improves as well. Then the vehicle industry isstimulated greatly and car ownership grows rapidly. More vehicle can promote the economicdevelopment of Xi’an and make the lives more convenient, also they can bring increasinglyserious motor emission pollution, a serious threat to the survinal and the public health whichhas become a serious urban traffic environment problems. Statistics show that vehiclepollution has accounted for30percent of air pollution in Xi’an, which has become a realreason for the pollution of the atmosphere. So research on Xi’an vehicle pollution problem hasbeen more and more significant.There are a lot of pollutants in vehicle exhaust and they not only pose a serious threat tohuman survival and health, but also give harm to our environment. For example,photochemical smog, greenhouse effect, the heat island effect, acid rain, haze and so on.Studies on how much various types of vehicle exhaust pollutants can be leaked fromvehicle show that it is mainly affected by the quality of fuel, vehicle age, speed, operatingconditions, etc..By calculating the quantity of emissions of pollutants such as hydrocarbons (HC), carbonmonoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), we can know that Xi’an shows a high level inone-motor vehicle emissions. That makes it clear that the emission levels described in Xi’anare high than that in Europe and America. It still has a long way for us to control emissions ofexhaust pollution.In the last part, this thesis proposed some reasonable measuers to effectively cantrol thevehicle pollutant with specific facts in Xi’an. Such as decrease the ownership and control amotor vehicle trips, raise emissions control on environmental awareness, improve motorvehicle fuel quality and develop clean energy vehicles. And we need a strict I/M system toencourage walking and cycling trip. All the studies can provide more good theoretical reference in controlling domestic environmental pollution.
