Under the background of China’s rapidly growing economy and its extensivetrade, the energy consumption increased rapidly especially after China entering WTO.Then the increasing of energy consumption caused the increasing of greenhouse gas.Along with the global climate change, people paid more and more attention toenvironmental problems. The problem of carbon emission gradually became the focusof the world, thus people should improve their understanding of the international tradeinfluences on China’s energy and environment pressure with the benefits ofglobalization. In order to understand the effects on China’s energy and environment of tradeand how to treat the effects, the paper started to analysis the effects on China’s energyand environment of trade in the view of embodied carbon and answer the questionhow to balance the energy and environmental pressure with the benefits of ourcountry in globalization. First of all, the paper calculated the embodied carbon of theyear of2002、2007and2012using input-output method. Then, based on theimprovement of the traditional framework of embodied carbon analysis, this paperhad tried to put forward a new view on the understanding of reasonable index model. As a result, the model named reasonable index model can perfectly correspond withthe principle that low carbon emission factor should export more and high carbonemission factor should export less, and the model has been proved to be practicallyvalid. Finally, the paper put forward suggestions to the main problems. The main research results were as follows:(1)The overall level of complete consumption coefficient in2012was lower thanthat in2007and the overall level of complete consumption coefficient in2007waslower than2002, which suggested that along with the progress of technology theenergy consumption intensity of China’s export products reduced. But, it suggestedthat the decreasing amplitude driving by the progress of technology was limited. Asthe law of diminishing marginal returns, the potentiality of the decreasing amplitudedriving by the progress of technology would reduce.(2)Overall, the scale effect was the main factor caused China’s embodied carbonincreasing. In the view of department level, the structure effect could offset part of thescale effect and structure optimization played a positive role for reducing theexporting embodied carbon. (3)The paper analyzed the carbon emission and the economic value of China’sexporting departments by the reasonable index model. In the guide of the reasonableindex model, it showed optimizing the structure of export trade was necessary andpotential.(4)In the view of industrial chain, the production and processing link wascharacterized by high energy consumption, high pollution and low value-added. Chinawas at the bottom of the industrial chain in the international division of labor, sostructure optimization should towards high value-added direction.Only by this canChina obtain a more reasonable position in the global industry chain.
