The world’s five emerging economies-Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa, China were known as "BRICS" because of their excellent investment potential. At first,"BRICS" was only a concept which came from one report of Goldman Sachs. Howerer, during the interaction in the global society, these countries gradually found common interests-establishing a new international political and economic order. Driven by common interests, the mechanism of BRICS comes to be progressed. BRICS are growing into an important force of the international political stage.The climate is a common problem in the face of human beings. It is public, so it must be settled by means of international cooperation. The climate issue is also one topic which is frequently mentioned in major summits and leadership’s meetings. But compared with other areas, BRICS take less actions in cooperation of climate issue. The main reason is that some countries have ambiguous stances on climate issues, and contradictions still exist among some of them which came from history.The climate cooperation of the BRICS has a good basis. First of all, the BASIC countries have similar national conditions and unified position; Russia has a strong enthusiasm in developing the BRICS cooperation mechanism in spite of its vague standing. The BRICS all have the strategic demand that getting the initiative in international climate governance and even in setting up new international political and economic order through climate cooperation; the BRICS cooperation mechanism provides a good platform for the cooperation.This paper is divided into five parts. First chapter states the process that how BRIC become BRICS and the venation of the BRICS mechanism’s formation and development, and define the concept of climate issue and international climate cooperation. Complex interdependence theory is introduced as theoretical basis in this part. The second chapter demonstrates the current condition of the BRICS about climate governance. The third part analyzes the basis of BRICS’s coopration and the next part elaborates paths of how BRICS can cooperate on climate issues. The last chapter discusses the significances and the challenges of their cooperation.
