Coal-fired power plants are primary energy consumers, as well as secondary energyproducers. The development of power industry promotes the introduction of a series ofenergy-saving and environmental-protection policies and standards.Energy conservationin power plants can improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions to a large extent, andimprove living standards of residents indirectly. Limestone-gypsum desulfurizationtechnology is the most popular and mature technique used in coal-fired plants, whosepower consumption accounted for1.5%~2.5%of total electricity generation. Therefore,it is of great significance to study on simultaneously improving energy efficiency of FGDsystems and ensuring desulfurization efficiency. In this paper, by analyzing basic information and operating data, classifyingenergy-consuming subsystems and filtering the major equipment, an integrated energyefficiency evaluation system of limestone-gypsum wet desulphurization system wasconstructed. Then every evaluation index was detailed analyzed. Moreover, according tothe comprehensive evaluation theory, the index weight is calculated and a complete setfor Limestone-gypsum wet FGD systems evaluation approach was built for energyefficiency and operation status. Finally, a FGD system of coal-fired power plant in NorthChina was taken as a study case to demonstrate feasibility of this evaluation approach.
