At present, the situation of China’s coal mine production safety is still serious. Manycoal mine also uses wired safety monitoring system, which the monitoring point is fixedand cannot be laid to the actual job site. So the information collection is time-lag andcannot react to the actual environmental information of miners’s location in real time. Inthe meanwhile, the information cannot communicate between the surface and underground.So the surface control center cannot monitor the conditions underground coal mine in realtime.To solve the above problems, this paper introduces a monitoring that is low-power,information, mobile, strong and miniaturization. It elaborates the design requirements ofcoal mine smart helmet and proposes its overall solution. With mobile coal mine helmetand convenience lightweight battery, the smart helmet integrates several sensor and useswireless communication. It can achieve environmental parameters collection, personnellocation and video monitoring. For the difficulty of laying wire in the coal mine, the paperanalyzes the characteristics of several wireless technologies to determine thecommunication solution combining ZigBee and WiFi. The wireless sensor networks isestablished by ZigBee, wihich can achieve environmental parameters collection and locateunderground personnel position. It Completes the hardware design of sensor node in smarthelmet, including CC2430control circuit, environmental parameters collection circuit, theantenna design, the power management circuit and the radio front-end design. Becausecoal mine roadway is belong to closed space, this paper analyzes the various personnelpositioning methods to determine the personnel positioning solution based on RSSI. Basedon the Z-Stack protocol, it completes the software design of node. In order to facilitate thedaily management underground coal mine, this paper introduces video surveillance insmart helmet, which can monitor the situation underground and let monitor reporte to themonitoring center timely. By analyzing a variety of video surveillance solutions, itdescribes the characteristics of the video surveillance solution based on ARM+DSP andcompletes the video surveillance module’s software design that is based DAM365.Finally, this paper analyzes the needs of the surface control center monitoring software. With ForceControl database pSpace to store the database, monitoring softwareuses the Genesis to rendere three-dimensional control interface. Through testing eachmodule and data error analysis, it shows that smart helmet monitoring system meets thebasic requirements.
