This paper reviewed the importance of low-temperature heat recovery technology intoday’s green low-carbon society, and the status quo of the application of low temperaturewaste heat recovery technology. Aromatic complex units are typically high energy consumingin refining plants. All the aromatic complex units were monopolied by American UOP andFrench IFP, before600,000tons/a aromatic complex unit of Hainan Refining&Chemical Co.,Ltd. takes into operation. Huge low-temperature heat from tower top and reactant areconventionally cooled down by air coolers,which not only waste low-temperature heat butalso consuming a lot of electricity for air-cooling.Hainan aromatics complex unit usestechnology package of China Petrochemical company which owed independent intellectualproperty rights, there is a great breakthrough in terms of energy saving. On one hand,0.45MPa steam generated byappropriately increasing the tower top pressure andtemperature,pushes turbine for power generation after the steam overheated by the heatingfurnace convection section. On the other hand, Heat exchangers are applied on column top oflow temperature to generate120℃hot water, which are sent to the Kalina Cycle powergeneration systems and hot water organicRankinecycle (ORC) power generation system.Application of this technology reutilized the vast majority of low-temperature heatenergy.Currently, the generating electricity capacity of the entire unit has exceededconsumption electricity,creating a miracle for aromatic complex unit.Theadvancement of lowtemperature heat recovery technology is further validated by comparing the energyconsumption.The successful application of this technology, has significant guiding meaningsfor refining chemical industry, metallurgy, steel, thermal power and other industries forenergy optimization, and also has broad application prospects.
