Polysulfonamide(PSA) fiber, has good performance of heat resistance, thermal stabilization and fire resistance. The excellent properties of PSA fiber in thermal properties, electrical behavior and chemical resistance endow itself with a bright market prospect in the field of industrial textiles. But PSA fibers cannot be spanned smoothly because of the features of PSA fibers include higher volume specific resistance(VSR) and initial modulus, smaller surface friction coefficient. And the final yams are weak and highly hairy.This paper was written mainly concerned on the two-plied yarns (19.2tex×2) made of PAS fibers whose length was51mm, fineness was1.67tex, and spun by three types of spinning methods of conventional ring spinning, compact spinning and siro spinning. Through comparing the properties of single yarns and two-plied yarns, optimized twist factors and twist ratios of spinning process parameters. And the results can be concluded as follows:(1) During the fore-spinning process, the quantity of feed and sliver should be low, and the twist factor of roving should be properly increased.(2) For the conventional ring spinning, the results showed when the twist factor was351, and twist ratio was1.44, the two-plied yarn got the best properties.(3) For the compact spinning, with2500/cm2mesh number of lattice apron, and2.5kPa gather negative pressure, the results showed when the twist factor was348, and twist ratio was1.37, the two-plied yarns got the best properties.(4) For the siro spinning, the results showed when the twist factor of single yarn was364, the twist ratio was1.003and the roving gauge was10mm, the two-plied yarns got the best properties.(5) Compared the properties of single yarns(19.2tex) and two-plied yarn (19.2fexx2) Spun by conventional ring spinning, compact spinning and siro spinning, the compact spinning single yarn got the best properties, and sirospun single yarn followed. For the two-plied yarns, the sirospun two-plied yarn got the best properties. And there was no significant difference in harmful hairiness longer than3mm between compact spinning two-plied yarn and conventional ring spinning two-plied yarn. Alternatively, compact spinning two-plied yarn got better breaking tenacity than conventional ring spinning two-plied yarn, but worse yarn evenness.The recommendation was given according to the experimental results as follows: If producing the single yarn with optimum quality, it’s better to choose the compact spinning methods, rather than the other two types of spinning methods, conventional ring spinning and siro spinning. If producing the two-plied yarn with optimum quality, the siro spinning method can bring more consistent with the desired effect.This conclusion would provide certain theoretical direction for the optimal using of PSA fibers.
