In the modern scientific development, oil equipment with high automation andadvanced intelligent system are widely used. In order to improve the level of drillmodernization, improving the productivity and security of screwing drill pipes is veryimportant. Therefore, The Ministry of Land and Resources carried out DeepExploration in China project. Project team have designed and developed a new type ofhydraulic iron roughneck. This paper mainly researches on the Properties of StretchingMechanism of this Iron Roughneck by using the theoretic calculation and computersimulations, more details is as follows:1. Movement analysis of Stretching MechanismAccording to the working process of Stretching Mechanism, StretchingMechanism is simplified into a plane mechanism. In order to researching the movementcharacteristic, the kinematical mathematic model of Stretching Mechanism isestablished by using the Asurr-group method. The kinematical characteristic curve ismeasured by means of using Matlab.2. Dynamic and static force analysis of Stretching MechanismSince the iron roughneck is of a mass volume, the inertia force and torque shouldnot be neglected. Therefore, dynamic and static force analysis is necessary. Everycomponent is established a mechanical balance equation. Then a linear equation set of18unknown variants is obtained. The oil cylinder force curve is measured by means ofusing Matlab.3. Dynamics simulation analysis of Stretching MechanismIn order to verify correctness of theoretical analysis and obtain real curve,simulation model is established and the working process is simulated by using ADAMS.The oil cylinder force curve and kinematical characteristic curve of stretchingmechanism are obtained and Stated.4. Statics simulation analysis of Stretching Mechanism The key component of stretching mechanism is had static analysis by usingANSYS Workbench. stress and distortion situation of the supporting arm and stretchingarms under peak loads is obtained.
