Nowadays,in the worldwide Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) technology has an advance trend to precise micro refinement, intellectualization, personalization, green environmental protection and highly effective tendency rapid advance. WEDMing has been used more and more widely in mould manufacturing. Dry WEDM is a kind of newly developed technology, in which gas has been used as a dielectric. Comparing with the conventional WEDM, the new method has the features of better WEDMed surface straightness, smaller gap length, no electrochemical corrosion and no pollution in machining, so it is suitable for WEDM finishing.In this paper the theory of low-speed WEDM(LS-WEDM), multiple cut processing and results of LS-WEDM finishing in gas were summarized. Moreover, the LS-WEDM machine used in experiments and surface measuring machine were also introduced. The plan for the gas-liquid combined multiple cut technology in LS-WEDM tests was designed,in which finishing in gas was one of the processes.With typical mould steel as the test material, the gas-liquid combined multiple cut technology in LS-WEDM was proved feasible. The machining parameters for finishing in gas were also optimazed.Since the attached program software of LS-WEDM machine is not convinent in complex surface WEDMing programming, Unigraphics program is selected in modeling the punch mould and NC programming, which is proved better than the attached software.
