Along with science and technology development, Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) technilogy has an advance trend to micro machining, intellectualization, personalization, environmental protection and high effeciency. Dry WEDM is a newly developed technology, which has the features of of better surface straightness, smaller gap length, no electrochemical corrosion and no pollution in processing comparing with the traditional WEDM in liquid. So this new method is suitable for WEDM finishing.In this paper the theory of high-speed WEDM(HS-WEDM), multiple cut processing and results of HS-WEDM finishing in gas were summarized. Moreover, the HS-WEDM machine used in experiments and surface measuring machine were also introduced. The plan for the gas-liquid combined multiple cut technology in HS-WEDM tests was designed,in which finishing in gas was one of the processes.With typical mould steel as the test material, the gas-liquid combined multiple cut technology in HS-WEDM was proved feasible. The comparing tests for different gas-liquid combined plans were done. The gas-liquid combined multiple cut new technology in HS-WEDM provide a new way for improving the machining quality of HS-WEDM machine,which is a peculiar product in China.In order to expand the machining ability of traditional HS-WEDM machine in producing complex curved surfaces, an additional numerical control rotation-swing work table was designed. The movement modle of the three-axle and single-rotating linkage system was established and simulation was done.
