A Study On Industrial Selection And Structure Optimization Of Coastal Development In Jiangsu Province

On June 10th 2009, the 68th routine conference of State Council discussed and passed the Plan of Coastal Development in Jiangsu Province. The plan points out that Jiangsu Coastal Area locate in the intersection of three main axis of productivity, which are China Coastal axis, Yangzi axis and Longhai-Lanzhou-Xingjiang axis; it is the important part of Yangzi Delta region with unique position, abundant land resources in support and strategic position. Under the new circumstance, to speed up the development of Jiangsu Coastal Area, it is very important for industry optimization and upgrading of Yangzi Delta Region, improving the productivity layout of China Coastal Area, promoting the development of middle and west part of china and strengthening the communication and cooperation with Central Asia, Europe and North East Asia. From now on, the development of Jiangsu Coastal Area becomes state strategy. However, compared with south of Jiangsu, it gets behind in its economy. There is not only a factor of government policy, but also exist its own specific issue.On the analysis of current industry development of Jiangsu Coastal Area, this paper points out detailed measures of industry selection and structure optimization, to further promote the social and economic development of Jiangsu Coastal Area. This paper has six sections:The first section is Introduction. It introduces background and current studies on the developments along Jiangsu Costal Area, and also introduces the main contents, main innovation, and difficulties of the study.The second section is basic developing theories,introducing theories of industry structure, evolution of industry structure and regional spatial structure.The third section is regional industry selection and general evaluation, mainly introduces Principal Component Analysis and Factor Analysis, establish the index system of evaluation.The fourth section is analysis of current industry structure of Jiangsu Coastal Area, analyzing the evolution of industry structure, the current status and with applying Factor analysis, focusing on the manufacturing, evaluate Nantong Lianyungang and Yan Cheng industry, and point out the main issue existing in current industry structure of Jiangsu Coastal Area.The fifth section is to give some advices and suggestions, make policy support and plan of industry development, determine the develop priority, focusing on leading industry, select and development relevant industry, establish Integrated Coastal Zone Management system.The last section is summarization and outlook. Putting forward things should be studied forward.
