Evaluation Of Land Resource Sustainable Utilization In Zijin County Of Guangdong Province

Land resource sustainable utilization evaluation as a part of sustainable utilization evaluation, was as standard of land resource sustainable utilization evaluation, also a important gist of land consolidation, regional planning and land resource utilization. Only had the science to make the appraisal to the land resource utilization, could use land reasonably and effectively.In this paper, Zijin County was selected as the research object. Based on the relevant research at home and abroad and the standard for sustainable utilization of land, combined with the current problems about land utilization in this county,28 final evaluation factors were selected to constitute the evaluation system of the land sustainable utilization in Zijin County from three aspects of the stability of natural resources, socio-economic feasibility and environmental suitability. And then, the correlation coefficient method was used to screen the primarily selective system, so as to determine the final evaluation index. After that, each index was assigned with weight by using analytic hierarchy process, variation coefficient method and entropy method. Finally, the land sustainable utilizations in Zijin County from 1996 to 2005 were evaluated from three aspects of the degree index, the level index and the coordination degree by index and mode, and then the major limiting factors for land sustainable utilization were selected based on the comprehensive evaluation results. The major conclusions of this research were as follows:1) The evaluation results of degree index of land sustainable utilization were as follows:sustainability degree of land utilization in Zijin County was at the generic level, although the index was increased from 0.5906 in 1996 to 0.6465 in 2005 with overall upward trend. With regard to each criteria layer, the criteria layer of ecological environment suitability gained the highest score, and during ten years, its value had risen to 0.7073 from 0.6431, entering the phase of strong sustainability. The score of socio-economic criteria layer had the maximum variation, and in the period of evaluation the growth rate reached 39.52 percent, completing the transition from the general sustainability level to the strong sustainability level. The criteria layer of natural resources stability was the lowest layer and was declined significantly from 0.5936 in 1996 to 0.5586 in 2005, which was developing gradually to the unsustainable direction.2) The evaluation results of index of land sustainable utilization level were as follows:during the period of 1996 to 1999, the development rate of land sustainable utilization in Zijin County had shown a steady upward trend, and the sustainability level is relatively high. During the period of 1999 to 2001, the development rate of land sustainable utilization in Zijin County had changed from the steadily upward trend into the decline trend, and the sustainable utilization index showed negative value, which indicated that the sustainability level in this county was gradually reduced and was turned to the unsustainable direction. During the period of 2001 to 2005, the development rate of land sustainable utilization in Zijin County rebounded and was restored to the sustainable direction.3) The evaluation results of the coordination degree of the land sustainable utilization were as follows:during the period of 1996 to 1997, because the economic development did not depend on the number reduction or the quality drop of natural resources and the ecological and environmental protection was represented well, the three criteria layers coordinated well and the land utilization sustainability in Zijin County was growing. During the period of 1997 to 1999, Zijin County had taken efforts to increase economic development, so the capacity of natural resources began to decline, which slowed the pace of environmental protection and decreased the coordination among the three criteria layers. However, the sustainability was still on the general stage. During the period of 1999 to 2001, with the sharp decline of the coordination degree, land utilization turned to the unsustainable direction.
