Urbanization is the important content of social economical development. County is basic administrative unit in China. Urbanization in the county-level areas occupies an important position in China. County is main carrier of rural population. The population transfer models at county level include off-site population transfer and in situ population transfer. Furthermore, the leading model of county-level areas urbanization is in situ population transfer model. Nevertheless, the in situ urbanization has not yet gained direct and sufficient attention in domestic research circle. Currently, traditional methodology based on framework of urban-rural dual structure still dominates in domestic county urbanization research. In the global context of urban-rural administrative boundary dismissing, research based on traditional methodology fails to reflect reality of urbanization in county-level areas of China, especially the urbanization occurred in developed costal region.Examined from perspective of in situ urbanization, this thesis tries to study the urbanization in the county-level areas of Fujian province based on the methodology which is beyond the framework of traditional urban-rural dual structure. Thesis utilizes quantitative methodology, which include both constructing function reflecting universal level of urbanization in the county-level areas and referring to related statistical data of Fujian province in 2007. With the method, thesis makes systematic analyst towards difference level of urbanization in the county-level areas of Fujian province. Thesis demonstrates factors of urbanization in the county-level areas from various aspects such as population density instead of just from perspective of administrative system to analyze and interpret regional difference of county urbanization. The results show that, the difference of the rate of city and town's population exists between inland and coastal areas province is not significant in Fujian; Quasi-urban population has a large size, mainly distributed in coastal county-level areas of Fujian province. The distribution pattern of quasi-urbanization level represents clear zonal distribution; the comprehensive levels of urbanization of the coastal counties were significantly higher than the inland counties. Both coastal counties and inland counties had the regional differences, the south of coastal counties' comprehensive urbanization level were higher than the north coastal counties's, while the inland counties appeared the northerly tendency; the county comprehensive urbanization level in Quanzhou city were significantly higher than other cities's; With reference to combined model of the rate of city and town's population and the quasi-urbanization level, the county-level areas of Fujian province can be categorized into four models, which are " double-high-type "," high low-type "," low high-type ",," double-low type "; Among county urbanization influencing factors, township and village enterprises is the most significant factor. Followed by township and village enterprises factor, in order of influence, are population density and transportation, government's executive power respectively. By contrary, the central city has weaker influence on county universal urbanization level.
