The electric power equipment maintenance is an important part of electricity production. It is significant to develop and implement reasonable maintenance strategy for the improvement of equitment health level and the safety and stable of the grid. This article applyed the Life Cycle Cost theory on the selection of electric power equipment maintenance strategy. Through the analysis the LCC under different strategies, compared their economics and provided basis to select.First,through the analysis of the LCC relative theories, constructed basic LCC model of electric power equipment.Then, based on the reliablity theory and electric engineering practice, constructed LCC model under different strategies.Finally, in the empirical analysis, the LCC under different maintenance strategies of a transformer were compared and the sensitivity analysis of the model was conducted. The results of the empirical analysis verified the validity of this method. It can reflect the economics difference between different strategis and provide judgments for the development of maintenance strategy. It is shown to have some practical value.
