With all sorts of serious environmental problems arising, the contradiction between the development of human society and the bearing capacity of nature becomes more and more obvious. The sustainable development catches attention from all parts of the world. In order to achieve the sustainable development, we need to replace the traditional economy-priority development mode with the ecology-priority development mode, and emphasize on resource productivity, rather than labour productivity and capital productivity valued by the economy-priority mode. As a result, a new form of competitiveness, i.e. the port green competitiveness, is generated.Ports are an important link of international logistics and an indispensable way of transit between ships and trucks. Port enterprises are an important part of national economy, and port constructions will have direct impact on the economic development of its hinterlands. Therefore, ports enjoy a crucial stand. Although port enterprises do not produce tangible goods with raw material like manufacturing companies do, they consume a great number of energy sources per year. They also occupy a lot of land and water territories for daily operation.According to these characteristics of ports, a better way to describe their development ability should be the port green competitiveness. Guided by the sustainable development, the paper takes resource productivity as a breakthrough point to evaluate the port green competitiveness. This competitiveness ask for the ability to survive in both economic circle and ecosphere. After establishing the indexes system, the paper uses the Data Envelopment Analysis and the Factor Analysis to evaluate the five seaports in China. As there is not an authoritative way to calculate the resource productivity, the paper, based on the characteristics of port enterprises and the research of some calculation methods, decides to use Ecological Footprint to reflect the Resource productivity.
