Port Comprehensive Competitiveness Evaluation Model And Method And Empirical Research

With the continuous development of global trade and the globalization, the competition between the ports all over the world has already become unprecedented fierce. Port competitiveness not only has enormous influence to the overall competitiveness in the region, but also has certain effects to the entire country. As China has gradually become the world market of global economy, port development, competition, cooperation and how to improve port competitiveness have become important and realistic issues that affect the sustainable development of our nation.This paper made some researches on the model, approach of port comprehensive competitiveness evaluation. The main contents are as follows:The paper firstly analysed the existing theory on competitiveness evaluation. Based on that, the model for comprehensive port competitiveness evaluation was summarized combined with port reality with was used as the full-text theoretical basis. After the analysis of the inferiority on traditional port evaluation method, the paper proposed the factor analysis and data envelopment analysis (DEA) to evaluate the comprehensive port competitiveness. The fourth chapter constructed a port comprehensive competitiveness evaluation index system, which fully considers both current development level and the potential of ports. Therefore the system can dynamically, fully reflect the comprehensive competitiveness of a port. Chapter 5 and chapter 6 respectively explained the theoretical framework and steps to evaluate port competitiveness using the factor analysis and data envelopment method, and compared the effectiveness of ports. Using ShenZhen port as the empirical research subject, chapter 7 evaluated its comprehensive competitiveness using the method proposed before, and put forward some countermeasures on how to improve the comprehensive competitiveness of ShenZhen port.
