As the concept of creativity was proposed, it had got the wide attention in the field of theory and practice. Many scholars pay attention on this concept, which established its theoretical and empirical value. All industries and corporations pursued innovation all over the world now. At the same time one of the most important themes in the Sixteenth Congress Report in China was creativity. Motivation has been regarded as an important predictor of individual behaviors, so an important issue is the relationship between motivation and creativity in the present study. But what is the mechanism of it? I tried to open the "black box" between intrinsic motivation and employee creativity. So this research will focus on: whether the proactive personality plays the moderation effect between the intrinsic motivation and employee creativity.In this study, samples were gathered from 48 enterprises in Nanjing which included 422 core knowledge workers. Diversification of sources of data ensured the wide representativeness of the sample. The main part of 48 enterprises in our survey were in the microelectronics and electronic information technology industry.(19 from the software and systems integration industry; 8 from the communication products industry; 6 from the computer and electronic products industry; 2 from the Internet and wireless value-added services industry),4 from the materials science and new materials technologies industry;2 from the medical science and biomedical engineering industry, and 7 from the other industries.Diversification of sources of data ensured the wide representativeness of the sample. In the analysis, we used SPSS and Lisrel to analyze the data. First, we got the statistics results of the various variables involved in the questionnaire, and then obtained the questionnaire reliability and validity, etc., to analyze their rationality and feasibility. Finally, we used SPSS to analyze the model and test the proposed hypothesis.The results showed that intrinsic motivation has positive and significant predicted effect on employee creativity; the proactive personality played the moderation effect on the relationship between intrinsic motivation and employee creativityIn practice, the research can improve employee creativity and intrinsic motivation and bring good suggestion on human resources management policy practice to discover, develop and sustain employee creativity.Our research has some limitations. First of all, it was the self-report, that was Intrinsic Motivation and Creativity were reported by the same people; Secondly, the data in this study was cross-sectional; Third, in this study, the dependent variable was set to the individual level, but group-level results may be more instructive and meaningful. Finally, we should take the industry as a control variable into account, because the creative requirements in different sectors o were different.In addition to research for future improvement of the repeated study, we can collect data from a different level (middle managers and senior managers) in the future.
