Under the economic globalization, the modern logistics is the most economic service manner for international transportation. As a linking point of the global sea transportation, the ports undertake the international circulation of resources. The development of economic globalization not only pushes forward the development of modern Port Logistics industry but also put up with higher requirements. The Port Logistics plays an important role in national economy and international trade, which has become a primary indicator of the development level of national economy. Every country attaches great importance to the development of Port Logistics and makes full use of the opportunity of the economic globalization as well as takes effective measures to improve the comprehensive level of Port Logistics. As a world economic power, the central and local government in China support the construction of coastal ports. Some Port Logistics have reached the international advanced level, but the overall level of Port Logistics is low because of starting late. Moreover, lots of problems associated with the infrastructure, technology and the organizational form restricted the development of Port Logistics, which will handicap the growth of national economy provided that no active measure is proposed to promote the level of Port Logistics. In view of this, it is of great importance to study the evaluation system of Port Logistics and improve the existing problems from the viewpoint of the economic globalization. In the preface, we address the research significance and review the literature in five aspects including the research of the functions, development, alliance, evaluation system and prediction of Port Logistics. In Chapter 1, we first introduce the definitions, classifications and functions of modern Logistics and ports, then analyze the relationship between modern logistics and ports. We further study the definition, characteristics and functions of Port Logistics as well as the development opportunity related to the economic globalization. In Chapter 2, incorporating the requirement generated by economic globalization, we study the influence factors on the evaluation of Port Logistics and discuss the selection of the evaluation indicators and the construction of the evaluation system. We further illustrate the evaluation process based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process and gray relevant analysis. In Chapter 3, we select eight coastal ports to implement the evaluation process and make the comparison analysis. The empirical result shows that the rank of these eight ports is as follows: Shanghai, Ningbo-Zhoushan, Qingdao, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Qinhuangdao and Tangshan Port. Shanghai Port takes the lead while Tangshan Port ranks worst although it has the best potential. In Chapter 4, we take Tangshan Port as a case study to analyze the adverse and beneficial factors that affect the development of Port Logistics. We make the prediction by grey relevant analysis about the potential of Port Logistics. The result shows that Tangshan Port will maintain the stable growth in recent three years. Another result shows that the elected indicator, such as the throughput, has important influence on Port Logistics by the test with one percent increase in throughput that improves more in predictive value. Considering the fact of the best potential but the worst rank of Tangshan Port, we put forward some suggestions to improve the comprehensive power of Port Logistics. We conclude this paper with the contributions and limitations of the research as well as the prospects for further study.
