Strategies Research On Applying The SCM To Improve Railway Logistics Enterprises' Competence

The railway logistics enterprises, whose predecessors were railway freight forwarding enterprises, are the inevitable outcome of the development of the market economy and have become an important pillar industry of railway system. Today, with the big development of logistics enterprises, the railway logistics enterprises face good opportunities and also unprecedented challenges. From function, the railway logistics enterprises are changing from the single cargo transportation to the modern comprehensive logistics supply. For the railway logistics enterprises, it can improve their whole competence to effectively apply the supply chain management.Based on the comprehensive studying and understanding the domestic and foreign relevant theories on the supply chain management and the enterprises' competence, the paper collects the data on the railway logistics enterprises' competence, analyses the present situation of enterprises' competence from the theoretical research and working practice of railway logistics, summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the railway logistics enterprises, and finally puts forward the ways to improve railway logistics enterprises' competence by the supply chain management from five aspects: the first is to develop existing logistics functions to the third party logistics, the second is to establish strategic alliance, the third is to develop logistics information system, the fourth is to promote the lean transport, the last but not least is to vigorously introduce and cultivate the logistics personnel. On the basis of investigation, the cases analyze and research the selected railway logistics enterprises, and form the specific countermeasures to enhance competence of the enterprises by the supply chain management.The rapid development of China railway brings opportunities and challenges for the railway logistics enterprises, and the enterprises may promote enterprise competence by the supply chain management to constantly adapt to the changes of external environment and to favor the invincible position in the fierce competitions in logistics industry.
