Ecological economics is a newly emerging subject, whose theory system is not perfect. There is still much debate on the definition of its concept and object of study. The emerging of this subject is a result of rethinking on industrialized way of life and production when ecosystem environment is being destroyed. Ecological thought can be traced back to long ago, while the newly emerging ecological economics bases on modern physics and thermodynamics, which takes the Earth as a whole ecosystem. The ecosystem can exchange energy not matter with the external world. Economical system is an open sub-system to the whole ecosystem, which exchanges matter and energy to ecosystem. Consumption has much to do with the live and development of the human society. People studied consumption from different angles in different historical periods, and there are changes in the concept of consumption. High consumption and endless spending desire brought by Consumption Age give the ecosystem too much pressure to bear. To study consumption from the perspective of ecological economics is a necessity, and it's the only way for the constant development of human society.This paper combed the theories of ecological economics, ecological ethics and ecological philosophy of Marx, summarized the imperatives of history, and discussed the basic thinking of ecological consumption so as to make up the lacks of past studies. What's more, in this paper, normative analysis and positive analysis were combined to analyze the conditions of resident consumption and its effect on energy and environment. This paper analyzed the problems in resident consumption and its impact factors, and proposed measures for the delivery of ecological consumption in our country residents. Introduction introduced the background, purpose, significance innovations and literature review of this paper. The first chapter and the second chapter are theoretical basis, in which changes of ecologism and consumption are combed. The third chapter advanced the idea of ecological consumption on the basis of related theories and past research, and distinguished ecological consumption from the concept of green consumption and sustainable consumption. The forth chapter contained empirical analysis, in order to analyze the condition of our country resident consumption and its impact on resources and environment. The fifth chapter put forward corresponding policy, such as guiding consumption by production, acquiring correct view of ecological ethics, and so on.
