The Evolution Of The Production Of Vegetable In Shanghai And The Driving Force

Agriculture is always the basis of national economy. Not only can it provide the most important necessities in our daily life, but also is it the premise and foundation of everything we undertake all over the world. Just like the majority of raw materials of industry is from the agriculture. Agriculture means a lot to every country, no matter which is developed or developing. Agriculture includes several departments, the part of vegetable can make higher beneficial result. The healthy and high speed development of vegetable can increase the farmers' revenue, ensure the quality and quantity of vegetable and maintain the society stability.This paper is based on researching the situation of vegetable in Shanghai from 1980 to 2008.Chosing four representative years to reveal the change of vegetable distribution and try to find the driving force which made the distribution just like anti-Thunen agricultural location theory. Then find out:(1)There are kinds of vegetable with good quantity. The land of vegetable with facilities is widespread in Shanghai. Meanwhile the majority of land of vegetable production is far away from the city and seems to be relatively concentrated.(2) From 1978, there were some significant changes about the vegetable of Shanghai. Just like:the growing yield and area, the enriching varieties, the better quantity, the expanding land of vegetable production with facilities, the more and more base of vegetable production. At the same, the distribution of vegetable production was from the center to the outer suburbs, which was in accordance with anti-Thunen agricultural location theory.(3) From 1978, lots of points made the change of distribution of vegetable, just like the increasing urbanization of Shanghai, the gradually perfect net of traffic and communication, the changed consumption structure, the science and technology which play an important role in agriculture, the growing scale of production and so on.(4) In order to make sure the efficient development of the vegetable of Shanghai, not only should we promote the technology and enrich the species, but also construct some leading enterprises and develop off-site agricultural.
