Information industry is one of the fastest growing industries in China nowadays. A proposal named "using informationization to facilitate industrialization, and using industrialization to expedite informationization" was submitted to the 16th NCCPC in 2002. Therefore, it is very important to study the development path, cluster formation, form and evolution of the information industry at home and abroad. As the building of international economic, financial, trade and shipping center, Shanghai must develop high technology rapidly, make it industrialization, and take large-scale transformation in traditional industries, upgrade the industrial structure, Improve industrial competitiveness, achieve latecomer effect. Narrow the gap in strategic industries with developed countries. Thus the rapid development of information industry in Shanghai, turn into an important force to transformation and optimization the industrial structure. This paper use spatial statistical analysis techniques to study the information service industry in Shanghai, research on the data of information service industry from Shanghai Administration of Industry by the end of 2008. The data contain 4 types of information service enterprises:computer services, software services, systems integration and telecommunications or other types. The paper use Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) to analysis the scale, benefits and other features of information service enterprises in shanghai. After understanding the general characteristics of the industry, analysis of the differences between various types of enterprises and its influencing factors. Then use correlation analysis, spatial autocorrelation analysis to research the Distribution of information services companies and the relationship between the distribution and the population density in each town (street).Considerable portion of information services companies is not large in scale, three-quarters of enterprises has less than 50 employees. The per capita annual sales of more than 70% companies are less than 50 million RMB. In telecommunications and other types of enterprises, small-scale focus on the trend is more apparent. The most common nature of the enterprises is various types of private ownership enterprises. There is no significant correlation between the number of companies and the population density of each town (street) from Pearson correlation coefficient. Consider the spatial connection, the distribution of the information service enterprise trends to areas of high population density. Each type of information service enterprises are all obviously agglomeration in the distribution. These hot spots are Xujiahui, Caohejing, Zhangjiang, Lujiazui, etc.
