Excellent urban and rural landscape planning can enhance the quality of the urban and rural environment and people's life.This article takes the cognition and exploration of the urban and rural landscape as the springboard, provides the author with the necessary approach support by means of introducing the systematic and scientific theories, constructs the general cognition system of the urban and rural landscape from the four aspects such as the primary targets, the fundamental characteristics, the components and the landscape types of the urban and rural landscape research and builds up the fundamental approach of the urban and rural landscape planning research of the general guiding significance on this basis.The integral urban and rural landscape of the Changping District has its own uniqueness. It is the key point of the research of this paper to dig out where the features lie. The writer has deduced the spacial and structural patterns of the landscape features of the Changping District by means of the in-depth assessment and analysis of the current status, the refinement of its characteristics from the composition of the natural elements and the cultural landscape and related research. In the same course, the author has also categorized the substantial components of the carrier system, divided the landscape areas in line with their functions and features and further concluded how the characteristic Changping landscape carrier system should be constructed.
